SERGIO SANCHO WINS 'GOOGLE CODEJAM 2004' CONTEST

[Oct 16, 2004] The Argentinian programmer Sergio Sancho, 30, won the 'Google Code Jam 2004' programming contest, whose final was held yesterday in Google HQ (Mountain View, CA).

Since September 1st, when competition began, 7,500 people from several countries have shown their qualities as programmers. They had to solve some computing problems by writing code in C++, Java, C# or VB.NET, and only 50 reached the final round.

Sergio Sancho studies at UBA (University of Buenos Aires, Argentina) and works at the Research and Development Center which Core Security owns in Buenos Aires. The prize he's won in Google Contest added up to $10,000.

Sergio takes part usually in the contests organized by TopCoder, the same people who arranges 'Google CodeJam', and knew perfectly the other rivals.

We could talk to him some days ago and told us that he uses currently C++, as he considers it as a "pretty good language". "However, it's got its problems. There is no perfect language", he declared.

He would like also to work at Google. "There is a very good work atmosphere, but I should close some issues here in Argentina (for instance, my University studies)".
