A CLAIMING MESSAGE INSERTED ON GOOGLE TRANSLATION

[Oct 22, 2004] If you enter Google in Galician (a language of Spain, Europe) and try to find any word without any results (for instance, 'aaaaiuyq'), you bump into this message:

"A súa procura de 'aaaaiuyq' non atopou documentos. Google, empresa millonaria, EXPLOTA TRADUTORES VOLUNTARIOS para gañar máis diñeiro."

("Your search 'aaaaiuyq' did not match any documents. Google, millionaire company, EXPLOITS VOLUNTARY TRANSLATORS to earn more money").

The policy followed by Google since it started was translating most of their local versions (especially those with not-extended languages) through a group of volunteers who translate original sentences --in English-- into their languages. If you access this webpage and log in pointing the languages you write correctly, Google sends you some sentences to be translated according to search engine's needs.

Since Google is one of the biggest tech firms in the world, there are some critics of this policy. This claiming message may be written by the person who Google designated to translate into Galician the sentence that appears when you don't get any results.
