A SPANISH STUDENT FINDS OUT A BUG IN GMAIL

[Nov 29, 2005] Sergio Gonzalez, student of 2nd year of Engineering at the 'Universidad Pontificia de Comillas' (Madrid, Spain), claims in this article that last October he found out a bug in Google email service: Gmail. The vulnerability, which apparently made it relatively easy to enter other peoples accounts, was communicated to Googles security services straight away. The problem was quickly solved by asking all the users to enter a second validation, so that people don't have access to others emails.

Sergio says that Google security services asked him for indications to reproduce the bug in their lab, and that they were thankful for his concern for their validation mechanisms. Even the prestigious CERT has contacted him to let him know how to clear up future problems.

Sergio also announces that he'll be taking part in a seminar at his University, where he'll explain in detail some technical topics.
